What's new in Frit 1.3.1
Frit 1.3.1, build 6, came out on 4 November 2026.
- The Oxide Nudge and Replace Material sheets now show all their content. In Frit 1.3, the edges of these sheets were cut off.
- The note in the sample book now names three tools to try. They are Recipe > Replace Material, Recipe > Oxide Nudge and Tests > Find Test.
- The toolbar has a button for each of these three tools.
Earlier in Frit 1.3
Frit 1.3, build 5, came out on 3 November 2026.
- Tile codes. Each test tile now gets a short code, such as T-001 or T-002. Write it on the back of the tile. Type the code in the search on the Tests page, and Frit selects that tile.
- Search and filters. You can also search the Tests page by recipe, material, note or date, and filter it by cone and atmosphere. Tests > Find Test (Option-Command-F) puts you in the search field.
- Labels. Tests > Print Labels prints a label for each tile on a Letter sheet of 30 or an A4 sheet of 21, or saves the labels as a PDF.
- A code is never given to a new tile after you delete a tile or undo Add Test.
Update Frit on every Mac. Books that have tile codes are saved in a newer format. Frit 1.2 or older can't open them.
The support page explains tile codes, search and labels in more detail.
Earlier in Frit 1.2
Frit 1.2, build 4, came out on 3 November 2026.
- Oxide Nudge. Set a target for one oxide in the unity formula, and Frit changes the material amounts to reach it. Choose Recipe > Oxide Nudge, or click an arrow next to a unity value in the chemistry pane.
- Replace Material. Swap one material for another, for example a discontinued feldspar, and Frit rebalances the recipe. The sheet lists each oxide that the new recipe can't match.
- The sample book has a sixth recipe, Tidewater Feldspar Gloss. It's first in the list, so you can try both tools on it.
Both tools show the old and new amounts and both points on the Stull chart before you apply a change. The support page explains them in more detail.

Updates
